Masks..!

Covid-19 has created a terror in people’s lives. Schools, colleges, malls, theatres are closed. Everyone is panic stricken, but is it really that worrying. Are we not used to get quarantined or wear masks. It was always emotional, this time it is physical that’s it !!

There is something we are hiding, masking, keeping away or avoiding with everyone in our life. The reason might be a sensible one though. There are people who need not know your personal story, there are people who know you thoroughly but you are not comfortable sharing with, there are people who might understand you but you don’t feel secure about them, there are people who care about you and ready to listen but you don’t want to bother them. There are people who will listen and guide but you really don’t need a favour from them. Huh !! So many people around but not a single heart to share your true self. Every relation has at least one masked strand.

We don’t share sorrows because we don’t need anyone’s advice, help or sympathy. We don’t share happiness because we are insecure and don’t want to be judged. May be we are not sure if our happiness makes them happy as well. Inspite of this our social media is always flooded with posts that announce every minute detail of our day to every person who we don’t even know. Happily eating, watching movies, meeting friends, partying around. What a paradox !!

At the end of the day we share different things with different people at different levels, but at some point we are always masked. Aren’t we?
